This is a very nice park located behind Louden Nelson Community Center. Many years ago this park was big hangout for drug dealers and users, but it's been cleaned up and redone and is now a beautiful and safe space. There's a basketball court at one end, a nice lawn area in between, and one of the few Santa Cruz playgrounds that has some unique equipment. It's still commercially-produced, but at least it's different stuff than you see at most cookie-cutter playgrounds. There's a climbing web, some wobbly platforms, and a couple different types of spinning things. Also some swings, a dinosaur sculpture, etc. A good place to take the kids to let them get out some energy before going to eat or walk around downtown.
