Our public facilities available for play during non-school hours. Our current playground is age-inappropriate for all grade levels, surrounded by unsafe gravel and railroad ties. Wildflower is striving to build a new playground with age- appropriate equipment that will become a safe haven for our students and community. Wildflower Elementary believes that if kids attend a “healthy school†where they are served healthy meals, have opportunities for physical activity, and have access to basic health care, they are better able to learn and maintain healthy habits into adulthood. A new playground will increase the number of children who have access to safe, age-appropriate play spaces that promote physical activity during and beyond the school day. With a population of 74% free or reduced lunch and free breakfast each morning, Wildflower is covering multiple bases in the effort to keep our children healthy. A new playground with a thoughtful design will promote greater levels of physical activity for our children. Wildflower has created a safe haven within the walls of the school and is working to extend this nurturing environment to the outside play areas. Our primary focus is to advance student academic achievement in all content areas and place each child on a trajectory to be college or career ready after graduation. For most of our students, Wildflower Elementary is the safest, most loving, and stable environment they have in their lives. Wildflower staff and teachers are committed to fostering this environment and believe a new playground is essential to the students’ academic development.
