Wow! It has been 8 months of smiles and giggles in Mayfair section of Philadelphia! What a delight to see this playspace being used again everyday by children. We are still looking to add equipment, specifically a Rumble Slide to our playspace at Mayfair Memorial Playground. This particular slide is designed for children with sensory disabilities, but can be used by all just like all of our other equipment. So be on the lookout for additional information on how you can help us achieve this goal!
The Mayfair community was given a GREAT big GIANT gift this year--our new playground! We are thrilled to announce that the Friends of Mayfair Memorial Playground have teamed with several local businesses for the Toys for Tots campaign! We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys at the annual Mayfair Tree Lighting on December 4, 2011 at Frankford Ave. and Wellington St. starting at 4pm. We can't wait to see the generosity of this great community!

The Friends of Mayfair Memorial Playground attended the SRC (School Reform Commission) meeting at the School District of Philadelphia on Wednesday, August 24th. Approval of the KaBOOM! & GIANT Foods contribution was accepted! Build Day is scheduled for Thursday, October 27th. This was a promise made to two special young children KM & AM, "A Promise Kept"!
This was our only playground in our area that our children could go to play. I have wonderful memories of my older son playing on this playground but unfortunately have no memories of my youngest son playing here. A small group of us have been working to rebuild this playground for our children and for all of the children in our neighborhood but we need more help. Our goal is to make this space suitable for younger children and children with special needs. There is no public playground in our area that has equipment for these children.
