Casita Center for Technology, Science, and Math is a magnet elementary school in Vista, California. It serves approximately 700 kids from grades K-5 as well as additional preschoolers. Casita is in a Federal Title I low income neighborhood with 63% of the kids being socioeconomically disadvantaged. Overall, the school is a very energetic place with teachers and administrators coming up with new ways of teaching and new educational opportunities all of the time. An Imagination Playground in a Box would be embraced by everyone. This Casita playground is tired and is in the process of being upgraded, (although progress is slow because it is being funded by the parents through the PTA). There's a large blacktop area, new swings, and old play structures which are being removed one at a time because they have become unsafe. So far the PTA has funded a small climbing structure, but it will be years of fundraising before we can replace the rest of the equipment. An Imagination Playground in a Box would add so much joy to the play space and give the kids a chance to work together to build ever-changing creations..

Hi, I'm a Mom of 2 Breeze Hill Elem students. We visited Casita about 8 months ago. Loved so much about the school!! Definitely noticed the run-down playground. Good luck with your renovation plans.

Thank you for the support. We can't do this alone. Remember these are all of our kids, regardless of which VUSD school they go to. Community support is what us going to win it, whoever gets the prize (hopefully Casita), so tell everyone you know that this would be a wonderful asset for some very deserving kiddos.

At Casita, I am in charge of running a morning News Crew with 4th grade students. This morning on Casita Center News, we made an announcement about voting on Kaboom. Fingers crossed that students went home and encouraged their parents to vote! We'll keep making announcements until October 15th. Go Casita!

This week, second graders are participating in the second annual Egg Drop Challenge at Casita! Scientists worked together in pairs to create an egg case that would later be dropped of the roof of our two story MPR facing the blacktop. We had 12 eggs survive!!

Had some WONDERFUL volunteers come and replace 4 of the 21 termite infested garden boxes (we only had $500 folks). The boxes are beautiful, come and check them out. I want to personally thank Cathy, Rob, Ed, Joe, Bob, and Bailey. You guys are truly wonderful!!!

I couldn't believe they came and did this for us. One of them even lugged a table saw over to the garden. I'll post some pictures.
