The Solano Playlot is a triangle-shaped park with lots of potential. Solano Playlot has recently been adopted by a dedicated grassroots community group, Solano PLAY (www.solanoplay.org), which is working to improve the park - getting toy donations to increase play opportunities for kids 0-5, and making the park more inviting for kids and families by painting play structures and benches and adding planted gardens. With play equipment is more than 50 years old, rusting in many places and hazardous to all who play there, kids desperately need an upgrade. The activities to improve the park have become a focal point for the neighborhood.

Just want to say a quick thank you to our amazing community and supporters who helped us move into 3rd place early Friday morning. In addition to our rallies Thursday and Friday, which drew at least 7 stories on 4 different TV stations, we received support in this campaign from thousands of Richmond residents, the City of Richmond, the West Contra Costa Unified School District, the Lions Club, several individual public and private schools who circulated to parents, teachers and alumni, Catahoula Coffee, several other large and small businesses who shared with their employees and lists, the Richmond Progressive Alliance, our Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Chamber of Commerce, several candidates running for local office and beyond. It has been an incredible campaign. Whether we won is anyone's guess, but we've become a stronger community, and that has been amazing.

Our park already looks a thousand times better than it used to and I am so inspired by the hard work of the folks that made it happen. I haven't made it to a work party yet but hope to join the next one. Thanks for being awesome North and East!

I live 25 miles from this park, but I know that the kids we help today will be the adults we want them to be tomorrow. Thankfully there are still parents who care!

We're still in 4th place and it's too soon to know what will happen. But no matter the outcome, I want to express how truly grateful I am. To any one who has voted, donated a toy, watered the garden, or brought a child to this park...you are truly remarkable and add to the wonderful spirit of this neighborhood. I am so touched by the many ways everyone has come together to support families in Richmond and the magic of the Solano Playlot.

i dont live near this playguornd but i would like to see you get into third place. your sooooo close. anyone who sees this please call up your local new team to do a story on this to get votes for Solano Playlot! your almost in third and it would help out a lot.
