A mural, entitled 'A United Community' overlooks the park. In 1985, MECA commissioned renowned mural artists Pio Pulido and Sylvia Orozco to design the mural. In the summer of 2000, MECA, Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts, renovated a mural in the Old Sixth Ward Art Park. The mural, which is painted on the two story exterior wall of the adjacent Saint Joseph School, has provided an artistic and culturally significant backdrop for the west end of downtown for 15 years.
