Ancient Playground - Central Park

Fifth Avenue at 84th Street New York, NY, 10028

No Rating

If you've been to the Met and want to continue the Temple of Dendur "feel," this playground was designed for just that purpose. In reality, it's just an exceptionally good playground for kids of all ages, with all the obvious play stuff: lots of slides; two rope swings which kids can use to play Tarzan as they fly over a sand pit; tire swings; chain bridges; a water sprinkler that runs on hot days, and enough sand to start a small beach when you go home and shake out your shoes. There's a nice, quiet area for smaller kids, with a concrete surrounded sandbox that holds a lovely concrete turtle to climb on or sit under. There's also a fine set of gated baby swings. The bathrooms are acceptable, if you or yours really need to go.http://www.gocitykids.com/browse/attraction.jsp?id=1261

Great Playground and one of the most accessibel to residents nearby. that having been said it is located right at the exit of the 85th Street transverse across Central Park. Cars, taxis are crossing 5th Avenue regularly during the day.
