I think my kid would do well if there was a sand playing competition and she would definitely win gold for dilly-dallying when it's time to leave! haha

hey KaBOOM! people, is there a blogroll of people taking the challenge? I'd love to see if anyone else in my area is doing it and see their thoughts on local playgrounds too. :)

Hey Alex, we'll ask folks to send us links to their blog in our next weekly email (going out tomorrow) and compile a blog roll. Thanks for the idea!

Trampoline is an Olympic sport! Can any of your kids perform amazing flips on a trampoline? http://www.nbcolympics.com/trampoline/index.html

The rings, for sure! Both of my kids love any kind of rings or monkey bars. I'll never forget our first teacher conference when my daughter was in preschool and they wanted to have a serious conversation about their concern over her obsession with the rings!

My daughter would take gold in any climbing competition, she's not even 2 and can scale just about anything.

Running and hula hooping at the same time?!?! That should be an Olympic sport.

After talking to my 7yo, he stated he would win at spinning. The boy loves to spin. :) This was taken at Sandel Park in Seattle on the round a bout

We would rock the swings. My 9 year old, Thomas, is an expert at jumping off the swings. And believe it or not, Mom can still do back flips off the swings.

If there were playground olympics my 3yo would probably excel at death defying leaps across playground equipment. My 7yo would totally be into the decathalon of playground feats, not being able to choose between climbing, wall scaling, jumping, gravity defying swings, or anything else. oh, and if there was a "hot lava" competition where they didn't have to touch the playground floor? They'd totally own that. :)

I think my 3 year old would excel at rope climbing. I can't believe how good he's gotten all of a sudden.

Yes, you can upload pictures directly to the Map of Play. Use the search function first to see if there is already a playspace on the map and upload it. If there isn't a space, you can create one. Let me know if you have questions during the process!

Both my kids would get a gold medal in giving their mom a heart attack! Honestly, they make these playgrounds SO safe these days -- how do they both manage to find the ONE thing that makes me sprint like a maniac?
My older would definitely rock the climbing event - she started early and can navigate to the top of any structure, and loves it!
My younger one? Is there a prize for doing every slide she can find, the most times? She loves whooshing down at top speed!

If there were a Playground Olympics, what event would your kid(s) rock? okay, answering the question: Three kids: youngest who is six would win the "I have no fear so I disappear" playground event. One minute she's there splashing in the fountains, the next she's climbed to the top of the playground rope tower, then off again to the swings. You have to keep an eye on this one, she's quick! Middle son would win the "how fast can you find shade and a park bench" event-with book in hand he gets out of the car and in 30 seconds his butt is firmly planted on the bench under the shade! Oldest son? There is no playground event for this one, he's back at the house participating in the Summer Couch Olympics. So far he has a gold medal in eating an entire bag of goldfish crackers in one sitting and a silver medal in drinking all but the last swig of orange juice.
